OCTOBER 7 SLAUGHTER OF NUSSBAUM FAMILY FRIEND
Barry: Three years ago today, the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust took place.
On October 6, 2023, Israel was relatively peaceful.
On October 7, everything changed.
Thousands of Hamas terrorists poured into Israel from Gaza and carried out a massacre that shocked the world.
They murdered families.
They attacked homes.
They slaughtered young people at the Nova Music Festival.
They kidnapped civilians and dragged more than 250 hostages into Gaza.
And they filmed it.
Not journalists.
Not outside observers.
The terrorists themselves.
They wore GoPro cameras, recorded their own atrocities, and uploaded the horror for the world to see.
They wanted people to watch.
They wanted the fear to spread.
They wanted the message to be clear.
And now, three years later, we must still say what too many people want to forget:
This was not “resistance.”
This was not “freedom fighting.”
This was terrorism.
More than 1,200 Israelis were murdered that day.
Look at their faces.
Read their names.
These were not statistics.
They were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grandparents, friends, neighbors, students, workers, dreamers — people whose lives were stolen in a single morning of hatred.
And for my family, this is personal.
Two of those faces were close friends of my children.
Amir Fisher was a good friend of my daughter.
He had dreams. He had a future. He was going to be a professional soccer player.
Hamas took that future from him.
Ben Mizrahi was a good friend of my son.
He died while helping treat the wounded at the Nova Music Festival.
Think about that.
While terrorists were murdering innocent people, Ben was trying to save lives.
And he was murdered too.
These were not distant names on a screen.
These were friends of my family.
Real people.
Real children.
Real futures.
Gone.
And America must understand something very clearly:
What happened in Israel is not just Israel’s story.
It is a warning.
The same hatred that drove Hamas to murder Jews on October 7 does not stop at Israel’s borders.
That ideology targets Jews.
It targets the West.
It targets freedom.
It targets civilization itself.
And Americans cannot afford to pretend we are immune.
Our own intelligence agencies have warned for years about extremist threats, open-border vulnerabilities, and the danger of terror networks exploiting weakness.
We do not honor the victims of October 7 by looking away.
We honor them by remembering their names.
We honor them by telling the truth.
We honor them by refusing to excuse terrorism, minimize evil, or allow the world to rewrite what happened that day.
Never forget October 7.
Never forget the 1,200 innocent people murdered.
Never forget the hostages.
Never forget Amir Fisher.
Never forget Ben Mizrahi.
And never let it happen here.
