Barry: You won’t believe this — Chicago spends $93,000 per student, more than nearly any other school district in America, and yet thousands of those kids can’t even read, write, or pass a college entry exam. It’s a total disaster. But the real shocker? The president of the Chicago Teachers Union, Stacy Davis, says the children of Chicago belong to the teachers. Her exact words were, “The children are always ours — every single one of them, all over the globe.” This is the woman leading the teachers union that wants a $50 billion budget increase for raises — while students are failing and parents are leaving the city in droves. Over 70,000 students have been pulled from Chicago schools in the last decade. I wouldn’t send my kids there, and I can’t imagine any parent who would if they had a choice.
Will: Yeah, Barry, it’s the same old story — big spending, zero results, and total arrogance. And you’re right, it’s not just Chicago. It’s the same mindset Hillary Clinton pushed years ago — “it takes a village.” Translation: your kids don’t belong to you; they belong to us. That’s how these unions think. They get rich off taxpayer money while failing the very children they claim to protect. And instead of fixing the problem, their answer is always the same — give us more money. But they’ll never fix the system because the broken system is what keeps the cash flowing. And of course, when things fall apart, they blame Republicans. They won’t even let conservatives help, yet somehow it’s still “our fault.” The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer.
Chicago’s education system is broken — not from lack of funding, but from lack of accountability. When unions claim your children are theirs, it’s time to stand up and say no. Parents deserve a voice. Kids deserve better. And taxpayers deserve results.
