Barry: Everyone knows Kamala Harris lost by a huge margin in both the Electoral College and the popular vote. Many political analysts, including us at American Truth Project, point to a key mistake: she chose the wrong running mate. If she had selected Josh Shapiro—a brilliant speaker without baggage and a popular leader in Pennsylvania—the outcome could have been very different. Shapiro, with his moderate approach, would have helped her appeal to Middle America and secure crucial electoral votes. But there’s speculation she avoided choosing him because he’s Jewish and, some say, because he might outshine her. Instead, Kamala picked a completely unknown, gaffe-prone VP, and her campaign suffered for it.
Will: Exactly. Kamala’s choice alienated Middle America and failed to address the issues people cared most about. What’s amazing is that some conservative commentators actually thought Kamala was “acting” clueless to gain sympathy, but I never bought that. She repeated the same talking points at every rally, as if reading from a script. She didn’t adapt or bring anything fresh, while Shapiro would have added real energy and skill to the campaign. Ultimately, her inability to connect with voters—and choosing a VP with no appeal or depth—left her vulnerable and led to the landslide we saw in this election.
