Einav, we’re so excited to have you with us. You’ve experienced firsthand the horrors of October 7th, 2023, a day that marked the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Thousands of Gazans crossed the border, committing unspeakable atrocities—men, women, and children brutally murdered, babies burned alive. It’s a tragedy of unimaginable scale. Now, as someone deeply connected to both the military and civilian life in Israel, how has that day changed your life? What’s different for you, and how has it shaped your view of the world moving forward?
Einav: Hi Barry, it’s great to be here. October 7th was devastating for all of us, not just Israelis but Jews worldwide. I woke up to sirens, thinking it was routine, but soon realized it wasn’t. Videos of bombed cars and calls from Israelis under attack poured in. For two days, I was in tears as the death toll kept rising—it was unimaginable. Then, I saw a U.S. professor praising the massacre, and it hit me that something was terribly wrong in the West. People were supporting this horror, and I knew I had to speak up. Despite the tragedy, I believe good will come from this. We now know who our enemies are, and it’s our chance to tell the world our story and stand strong as a united Jewish people.
