The Pentagon has launched a program called FORTRESS to make military bases generate their own power so at least they can keep running, even if the civilian grid goes down.
Utilities and federal agencies that run massive grid exchanges are now wargaming a coordinated attack on the grid so they can practice restoring power faster.
But here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud.
The government can protect military bases. It can’t stock your kitchen.
How bad could it get?

Studies project that up to 90% of the U.S. population could die if a grid collapse extends over months, up to a year.

So what should you do?
✅ Store one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days.
✅ Keep nonperishable food, a manual can opener, and your prescriptions ready.
✅ Get a flashlight, maybe two, extra batteries, and a battery-powered or hand-cranked radio because your phone will die and the internet will probably be down.
✅ Keep cash on hand because credit cards and ATMs need power to run, and there won’t be any.
✅ Write down key phone numbers and medication names on paper with a pen.
✅ If you use a generator, run it outside, far from windows and doors. Never, ever inside. And try to figure out how you’re going to power that generator.
Don’t wait for the warning.
Build the kit this week and talk to your family about what you’re going to do if Iran carries out its planned attack.
