Barry: Every week, we talk about it — and every week, the silence gets louder. Over 100,000 Christians have been slaughtered in Nigeria. Entire villages have been wiped out. Families have been burned alive simply for being Christian. President Trump is finally paying attention, warning Nigeria’s government that U.S. aid could be cut and sanctions imposed if the killing doesn’t stop. This isn’t new — it started under Obama, when Boko Haram, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, began its campaign to exterminate all non-Muslims. Back then, the Obama administration said “nothing to see here.” The New York Times even ran op-eds denying Boko Haram’s existence. Yet week after week, the massacres continue — villages are surrounded, men, women, and children are burned alive. That’s not conflict. That’s genocide — the deliberate attempt to erase Christianity from an entire region.
Will: You’re absolutely right, Barry — this is genocide, by definition. And the most shocking part? Nobody’s talking about it. The UN is silent. The media looks away. If this were Gaza, it would dominate every headline. But because it’s Christians in Africa, nothing. “No Jews, no news,” as you say. It’s hypocrisy at its worst. The Left will cry genocide when Israel defends itself, yet ignore it when radical Islamist groups slaughter believers by the tens of thousands. It’s the same pattern we see in the U.S. — remember the so-called “Asian hate” narrative? When the facts didn’t fit their story, the media buried it. That’s what’s happening here. The world doesn’t want to face the truth because it doesn’t serve its political narrative.
If this were any other group, the world would be outraged. But for Christians in Nigeria, the silence is deafening. President Trump has the power to act — and we must pray he does. This isn’t politics. It’s about saving lives. The question is: how many more must die before the world calls it what it is — genocide?
