Barry: After years of mascot controversies at every level—from pro teams to high schools—we’ve got another doozy out of Long Island, New York. This one? It’s almost too ridiculous to believe. Brentwood School used to be called the “Indians” until a state law banned indigenous mascots. So the school held a vote and democratically chose a new name: the Spartans. Sounds fair, right? Not for one self-declared “civil rights leader” whose daughter attends the school. He’s now suing the district, claiming that the Spartan mascot—yes, the ancient Greek warriors—is racist. Why? Because Spartans, in his view, were white conquerors who oppressed indigenous people. So now, Spartans are considered white supremacists. You can’t make this stuff up. Despite a fair vote and a historically rooted choice, he wants the mascot thrown out and replaced. What would make him feel represented—fighting squirrels? The Powerpuffs? Welcome to peak woke insanity.
Will: Barry, this is unreal. It’s the same story we’ve seen with the Redskins, the Indians—even attempts to cancel the Chiefs. Liberals always say, “We know what’s best for you,” even when the people they claim to be protecting don’t agree. Native Americans have spoken up, saying they liked the Redskins name—it was a tribute, not an insult. But the woke crowd steamrolls forward, deciding what’s offensive and who gets to be offended. Now Spartans are racist? This is what happens when common sense gets tossed out the window. It’s all about virtue signaling—never facts or history. And if you don’t agree? Well, don’t worry—the woke mob will decide your truth for you.
